Just chat... whatever you want (just keep respect in mind)... this is the area to bring your discussions about anything that may not fit into the remit of all the other forums here
Of course I don't mind if anyone goes back and reads anything on the chat by me either. You might pee yourself if you read today's logs though! I don't know, maybe you had to be there to get sucked into the laughter...
Oh I know I was writing a reflexology assigment. Darn it .....could have been having a gud laugh instead! I probably could have done with a distraction really.....never mind don't wanna fail my course do I?
I have downloaded Skype so that I would have cheaper calls to my kids/family in South Africa. It is also like a pre-paid phone in as much that you deposit money and then can make landline calls to anywhere in the world. I found the landline not to be good because of the reception... it truly sucks. The only way you really can use Skype is if another person has it as well and then with earphones and a mike you can chat for free.
I have also found reception not to be that good, and some days it can be great. In MSN they used to have a chat room if you had a group and that was really great but MSN stopped it. Now most of my members have messenger and we can chat that way when we are both on line...by typing.
There is also an option of Skye to open up your own chatroom. I tried that but unless everyone you want to chat to is online at the same time, it does not work. You sort of sit around waiting for people you know to come to your own chat room.
Think Skype is a bit overated...
Beging your forgiveness but I have to disagree with you there wildchild. You get notifications when one of your contacts comes online and a few of the forum members have been using it for some time now purely for text chat and it's turned out to be brilliant. As for the reception of video/audio, well that depends on the setup of the people participating. If we all had top quality hardware then there would be no problem. I have a quickcam pro 9000 and I have to say that it's ludicrously fantastic!!!
As for chatting, you can have group chat sessions for both text and video, you can very quickly and easily send files to other users and if you want to have a private word with someone you can open a seperate and very private chat with that person at the same time as having the group chat open.
I have used both MSN and Skype and I have to say that IMHO Skype wins hands down.
Oh and P.S. When you create a chat room you can keep it limited to just the group you want so you don't get unwanted users butting in and people can ony join if you invite them into the group.
Thanks for that.. I have been trying to get members from my other group Happiness Psychic Counselling into a chat room as we used to do when MSn was still open.. and geez I am having problems.
I have seen the one on one chat in Skype and yes, that is really good, but because I made the fatal mistake of just listening in a group, wow, I just got bombarded with people asking to private chats.. lol
I will try again and thanks for the new info..
